the goods. the partners. the impact.
pretty and new finds that freshen the air with a hint of the spring to come.
Juliana Acai Earrings in purple orchid ::: Dsenyo
Right in tune with Pantone's Color of the Year, we can't take our eyes off this pretty hue! They're made from real acai seeds and dyed by hand.
IMPACT: We're featuring Dsenyo because of their incredible heart for the communities they work with in Malawi, Brazil, and Zambia. Some product lines bring income to women, while others support anti-poaching efforts (and are actually made from snare wire traps!). They just made an appearance at NYNOW and we're SO excited to see some of the new textiles come to their webstore.
Stylist tip: Soft, natural, and just plain delightful, if you haven't debuted this color in your collection yet, consider this your no-excuses-now invite. Try something new by hanging above a bright yellow scarf for impact or pairing with other purples to go all-in on the look.
Scrappy Potholder (various designs) ::: Scarlet Threads
Besides being bright and eclectic (kitchen essentials!), these potholders get eco-friendly bonus points since they're made of scraps from other projects.
IMPACT: The Scarlet Threads founders here have a heart for orphan care and at-risk families in China. They're bringing economic empowerment to communities to prevent tragedies and fight injustices while bringing boutique-quality goods to the US. The artisan's name is Deng Jia and you can meet her here.
Hostessing tip: Not just for at-the-stove use! You can put these potholders to use beneath any sort of container (mugs, plants, carafes...) or display a few of your favorites in a cheery grid in the kitchen.
Medium Roast Coffee in French Vanilla ::: The THX Co.
Who can say no to the warm and wonderful flavor of French Vanilla? If you're finding it a little harder than usual to get up thanks to the time change, a freshly brewed mug of these beans is sure to perk you up.
IMPACT: These guys are rockstars in responsibly sourced products and giving back. We were so inspired by their "pay what you want" model (you choose what you pay and what organization you want to give the profits to) that we had to incorporate that as part of our giving and impact this year! Take a look around their innovative website to learn more about where your products come from!
Hostessing tip: If offering a warm mug to all your guests comes second nature, take the opportunity to tell them about where the coffee is sourced from and how they can make a simple change to their buying habits to create maximum impact with daily rituals.
Travel Lotion in lavender ::: Thistle Farms
Powerfully scented (in the best way) and endlessly soothing, we love a little on-the-go bottle for soothing hands. This time of year, we can't live without it!
IMPACT: It's probably safe to say Thistle Farms made one of the original breakthroughs in combining aftercare programs for trafficking survivors with income-generating opportunities here in the States. They've got a farm, a cafe, and they distribute their products all over the country! Believers in #loveheals, they're all about seeing that through.
On-the-go tip: I like to leave a little bottle in the car because I rarely get a chance to slather on lotion in my rush out the door. When I stop at traffic lights, it's the perfect time to do a little moisturizing (plus, the lavender makes the car smell great!).
What'd you think? Snap your pics and tag us @bonjoybox and #joyculture so we can see your do-good goods in action! Thanks for supporting our little box biz and believing in the power of joy and opportunity to fight trafficking. It matters!
