One of the things I love the most about bonJOY is shopping (er, researching!) and discovering amazing goodies that also have a great story or cause behind them. A few months ago, Julie discovered and sent me a link to a page from The Body Shop on marula oil. Consider my interest piqued!
This rich oil comes from the fruit of the marula tree in central and southern Africa, and it has often been used by women to moisturize and smooth skin. The Body Shop is working with the Eudafano Women's Cooperative in Namibia, which harvests the fruit and presses the oil and also provides the women employees with regular income. As Namibia has a very high unemployment rate, working with the cooperative has major benefits – namely, that women are able to pay their medical bills and send their children to school and find independence and confidence.
This week, I remembered what I had read about marula oil and decided to put my curiosity to action. I walked into The Body Shop and purchased a Colour Crush Nail Polish; the Peach Babe color was calling my name! This line of nail polishes include marula oil, and I love the idea of my nails receiving hydration and smoothing benefits!
The application of the nail polish on my nails was amazingly smooth. The brush is on the thicker side, so it holds more of the luscious polish after each dip - which is what I love. And this color was perfect for summertime! Results? Ten deliciously smooth color-boosted nails that will get your hands ready for summer!
The Body Shop has also included marula oil in some of its other products: Coconut Beautifying Oil, All-in-One BB Cream, and Colour Crush Eye Shadow. Happy shopping!
